Defining KPIs

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are a simple visual cue when values are in, or out of, certain boundaries. KPIs can be defined for any numeric value in a Versago report.

The following example illustrates KPI settings for all possible data ranges. In practice, this is not required or desired. The concept of a KPI is to highlight certain value ranges so that they are obvious to the user. Therefore, one or two KPI values will probably work better to highlight these special conditions.

KPIs are defined on the “Field Display Details” page of the report setup. A button labeled “KPI” is displayed in the KPI column for any value that can be used.

  1. Click on the [KPI] button to begin.

  1. Use the “Operatortype” drop-down list to select the evaluation method. Options are Less Than, Greater Than, and Between.
    1. In general, use Less Than for the lowest end of the range, Greater Than for the highest end of the range, and Between for any ranges in between.
  2. Enter the comparison value. Less Than and Greater Than will only use “Value1.” Between must have both “Value1” and “Value2.”
  3. Click the drop-down in the “Color” field to open the color picker tool and select the color for this KPI.

  4. Click [Apply] to use this color for this KPI.
  5. Continue the same process for additional KPI ranges.

Here is an example of a value with multiple KPI ranges.

  1. Select “Show Column Value” from the drop-down list. Three options are available: Text, Cell, and Icon.
    1. Text sets the value in the field to the KPI color.
  2. Cell sets the background of the field to the KPI color.

Note : using “strong” colors with this option can make the report difficult to read.

  1. Icon displays an icon using the KPI color.

Color Notes

  • Using “strong” colors with the cell KPI indicator can make the text, and overall report, difficult to read.
  • Using “light” colors with the text KPI indicator can make the text difficult read.
  • The numeric value + the Icon KPI indicator are treated as an alphanumeric string for display. This means that if there are a larger number of columns being presented, the information may “wrap” within the column.
