Versago Upgrade

Upgrade Preparation

Important Notifications

Please review Versago's new Application Security requirements for version 2.5.6 and later

Do not use Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) for the Versago installation process. IE is not longer supported for Versago. Download Chrome, Firefox, or any other HTML5-compatible browser and set it as the default on your Versago server.

Versago v2.3 and higher requires that Microsoft .Net Framework v4.7.2 or higher be installed before beginning an installation. The application can be downloaded from Microsoft. A restart of the server is required after installation.

Make sure there are no pending Windows Updates to help avoid a reboot during the Versago installation. If there are pending updates, install them first before installing Versago.

Other Notifications

If you are using HTTPS Redirect to allow users to simply use the URL (e.g. https://versago.yourdomain.com) to access Versago, you should disable the redirect before beginning the upgrade.

For upgrades to v2.3 from earlier versions, note that the URL for Versago is different. The new URL is http://yourdomain/m.htm#. The previous URL was http://yourdomain/VSGUser/m.htm#. Users that have your Versago site bookmarked may need up update the bookmark to the new URL format.

HANA Database Connections

SAP HANA Client should be installed on the machine where Versago is installed if you will be connecting to a HANA database to retrieve information. This application is automatically installed if SAP Business One for HANA is installed on the machine. An installation package is available from Third Wave Business Systems if it is not already installed.

HANA client change beginning with Versago 2.4.11.

Beginning with Versago v2.4.11, HANA Client v2.4.167 must be installed on the Versago server. You can download the installation package from https://portal.twbs.com. This client is also used for Bizweaver.

The installation process for this application is slightly different than “normal,” so please follow the instructions.

  • Create a folder named “TWBS” in C:\Program Files if it does not exist.
  • Extract the HANA clinet installation package from the download .zip archive.
  • Place the HANA client installation in the C:\Program Files\TWBS folder.
  • Move to the HANA client folder (C:\Program Files\TWBS\SAP_HANA_CLIENT).
  • Right-click on “hdbsetup.exe” and select the “Run as administrator” option.
  • Click the “Install new SAP HANA database client” option.
  • Select “C:\Program Files\TWBS\SAP_HANA_CLIENT” as the installation location.
  • Click <Next> to move through the installation wizard

The installation package should remain in this folder. Removing it will cause issues with some Versago and Bizweaver functionality.

Information You Will Need

  • The name & password for an active Versago administrative user.
  • If your site is using SSL, you will need to know the name given to the SSL certificate used by Versago.
  • Your company logo file (if being used on Versago).

Upgrade

  • Execute the “setup.exe” file in the upgrade package. This will start the upgrade process.
    • Always use the right-click > Run as administrator option to execute the upgrade.
  • Click [Next] to continue from the first screen that is presented.
  • Review the End User License Agreement (EULA) that is presented.
    • Indicate your acceptance by selecting the appropriate option.
      • Click [Next] to continue.
    • Select the “Do not accept” option if you do not accept the EULA.
      • The upgrade will terminate.
  • Confirm or change the installation location of the Versago files.
    • Click [Next] to continue.
  • Confirm the previous installation options
    • The website name should be “Versago”. This should not be changed without consultation with Third Wave technical support.
    • “Enable SSL” is mandatory and cannot be deselected.
    • Select the desired certificate from the drop-down.
    • Confirm the port being used for Versago.
  • Click [Next] to continue.
  • Various screens will be displayed as different components are installed. This may take a few minutes.
  • The final installation page provides the option start Versago.
  • Click [Finish] to complete the initial installation.
  • The Versago home page is opened using “localhost.”
  • There is a delay of several seconds while the initial configuration completes
    • Once the Versago login/password fields are accessible the basic installation is complete.

If you use a self-signed certificate, browsers will issue an unsecured connection warning. You will have to proceed beyond the warning to connect to Versago.

Final Upgrade Steps

  • If you are using HTTP Redirect you may need to adjust the redirect information and re-enable it.
  • The upgrade process may cause Versago to “lose” the company logo that may have been configured. It will revert to the default Versago logo. Reapply your company logo in the Customization section of the Versago Admin console.
  • Recreate the Bizweaver service by following these steps (alternatively, you can reinstall Bizweaver):
    • Go to the Versago site in IIS Manager
    • Right click the Versago site and choose Add Application from the context menu
    • Complete the Add Application window as shown below and click OK
