Issue

Linking UDF With DropDowns

Symptom

Cause

Resolution Notes

Since UDF dropdown valid value names are in the UFD1 table and will appear many times, getting the names can be tricky. Here’s some tips:

1. You’ll need to figure out the FieldID of the UDF (check the CUFD table). In the example below it’s 2 (fielded = 2) 2. You’ll need to write a subquery – in parenthesis – to only get a list of valid values for that document/table AND that field. The UDFValues text is an alias to the subquery. 3. Join the subquery to the source table – ORDR on the fldvalue = U_AAAAAA where U_AAAAA is the UDF name.

select ordr.docnum, cardcode, u_kitno, UDFValues.descr from ordr left outer join (select fldvalue, descr from ufd1 where tableid = `ordr` and fieldid = 2) UDFValues on UDFValues.fldvalue = ordr.u_kitno
