KB Item 298

Product

VERSAGO

Product Version (if applicable)

Issue

Cannot proceed past Step 2 of Report Wizard

Symptom

A SQL Select statment is used as the data source but the wizard will not move past Step 2

Cause

A special character (#) is used in the SQL Select statement.

Resolution Notes

A SQL Select statement is something like:

select t0.CardCode, t0.CardName, t0.DocNum as [Order #] from ORDR t0.

This issue is due to some parsing that happens in the SQL Select processing. The easiest way to work with column titles is to assign them in the Field Display Details (Step-4). Rather than setting the values in the SELECT statement, leave them as they are. Then change the column display name to whatever you need in the Display Details.

The only time this doesn’t work is if you have a “calculated” field (e.g.t4.cardfname + ‘,’ + t0.ShipToCode). In this case you have to assign an alias in the SELECT, so the issue with the special character might come up. But you can use the same idea in this case as well. Create an alias without the special character in the SELECT and then assign the display column name as described above.
