Display Tab Versions 2.4 and Higher

The “Display” page is used to define which columns are displayed in the report, the order the fields are displayed, and to set various display options.

  1. The Visible checkbox indicates if the column is to be displayed in the report. When the checkbox is selected (the default) the column is displayed. Use of this setting is helpful when you have columns that are used for filtering and linking but do not need to be displayed.
  2. Name shows the column name from the source query and data type provided from the data selection. It is provided for information only and cannot be changed.
  3. Display Field Name is what the user sees when the report is displayed. The default value is the “Name” when the report is created. The display name is almost always changed to something that will make sense to the end user.
  4. The Display Title option provides a way to suppress the display of the column name in the report. When the checkbox is selected (the default) the column header is displayed. If the checkbox is cleared the column header is not displayed.
  5. The Total option provides a way to automatically display page and report totals for numeric columns.
    1. When this option is selected, the page total of the column is displayed at the bottom of each page, as well as the report total.
  6. The Display Order column indicates the sequence in which columns are displayed and can be used to change the display order. See the Changing Report Column Order section for more information.
  7. Group causes the output to be automatically grouped for each unique value in the selected data.
    1. Only one value can be marked as “groupable.” A message is displayed when moving to the next step if multiple grouping items are found. The message indicates which item will be used for grouping.
  8. The grouping set in the report definitions can be removed when the report is executed but cannot be changed by the user.
  9. Sorting allows columns to automatically be sorted when the report is executed.
    1. Options are ascending and descending. Select the desired option from the drop-down list.
    2. Sorting is applied based on the display sequence of the columns. You may need to change the display sequence to get the sorting you desire.
  10. If no sorting option is selected, the data is presented in whatever order it is read from the database.
  11. Type identifies how the data in a column should be interpreted for presentation.
    1. Depending on your needs, the Type may need to be selected manually from the drop-down list.
  12. Keep in mind that some types may not make sense for use with specific types of data.

There are nine Types available. Their use depends on the type of data being reported. Usage is outlined in the following table.
